Dentistry Holds Candy Buy BackPosted Oct 18, 2016 in News
Sensational Smiles is challenging kids to save their Halloween Candy for our office’s 7th annual Halloween Candy Buy Back Event on November 1st from 8:00am-5:30pm, in office (6301 S. MN Ave. Ste 100, Sioux Falls). Our dentists will pay your youngsters $1 per lb for their Halloween Candy (up to 10 lbs per individual), which will be shipped in care packages to our troops through Operation Gratitude! (In 2015, we shipped over 550 lbs.)
While the kids are in the office, they can enter to win prizes and receive a balloon and mirror cling from our mascot Sensational Sammie. This is a fun experience for everyone and shows the men and women of our country we are thinking of them.
We are proud to be a part of the Halloween Candy Buy Back program. Each year Operation Gratitude sends out over 200,000 care package to our military members and first responders. Our Halloween Candy Buy Back -and many like Sensational Smiles across the nation- are a vital part of the success of this non-profit organization. The candy sold to dentists by kids helps to add a sweet treat to the care packages our troops receive.
Americans spend about 2 billion dollars on Halloween candy each year. We know, right!? That is a lot of sugar your little Trick-or-Treater is going to be bringing home and you don’t want your household eating it all. Gathering up all that sugar is a blast, but consuming a couple pounds of candy is not good for their overall health, not to mention their teeth. Sensational Smiles’ Halloween Candy Buy Back Event is a great avenue for kids to still enjoy trick-or-treating and learn about sharing with the men and women that serve their country.
In conjunction with the Candy Buy Back, Sensational Smiles will be holding a Toothbrush Drive. On November 1st, bring in a new, unopened Toothbrush to our office to be included in the care packages for our troops. According to USA Today about half of new soldiers already have three or more cavities putting them in a high risk category for dental disease and 10 percent of all disease related, non-battle injury evacuations of soldiers are caused by dental emergencies. Your donation of a new toothbrush will help ensure our troops have the oral hygiene items they need.
