What to expect during your denture checkup appointment

1. Update medical history & examination

  • Update any medication you’re taking and pay close attention to medications that cause dry mouth which can cause issues with the fit of the dentures
  • Perform extraoral and intraoral examination to ensure the tissue underneath the denture is healthy

2. Check the denture teeth

  • Assess the denture for fractures or breaking of the acrylic material
  • Ensure that your bite is still correct and that there is even wear

3. Review your oral hygiene for proper denture care

  • Discuss your current care and any changes that need to be made
  • Check retention of the denture
  • Clean the dentures in the ultrasonic cleaner with a stain and tartar remover
